Batteries that are not properly recycled can leak lead, mercury, cadmium, and other toxic chemicals into the groundwater which eventually goes into the rivers. There, the toxins go into the fish and other animals up the food chain through the process of biomagnefication. Humans can also suffer if they swim or drink the untreated water.

Some people mentioned under page 63 that the smog and city lights are already blocking out the stars so some extra little fake stars won't be blocking out what's already not there. The problem is that's like putting makeup over an infected wound. Sure it may look better, but the problem is still there and covering it up will only delay solving the actual issue.

The mentality that "it's already so bad that making it a little worse won't cause a significant difference" is what prevents solutions.
